Asked in Head, Ears, and Nose, Blood, Nose Bleeds

Is it ok when having a nose bleed for blood clots to come out?

    User Avatar
First, the fact that you手机500彩票客户端 are having nosebleeds may not be a very good indication to begin with. Nosebleeds are often caused due to damaged mucus membranes. The problem with having you手机500彩票客户端r mucus membranes damaged is that there is a possibility that you手机500彩票客户端 can develop nasal polyps. This is not a nice condition, as nasal polyps are growths inside you手机500彩票客户端r nose that can cause a lot of pain and, in the more severe cases, even change the shape of you手机500彩票客户端r face in that nasal area. The blood clots simply mean that you手机500彩票客户端r blood is drying within the nasal passage or even in the sinus cavity. I would like to know the answer to this question also. I had a very large blood clot that I pulled from my left nostril. Only one nostril was bleeding and stopped soon after. My kids have the same problem. I don't see any answers posted, but this must be fairly common if there are multiple posts. When you手机500彩票客户端r nose bleeds, the blood clotting is what eventually stops the bleeding. I am not a doctor, but it seems logical that you手机500彩票客户端 would see blood clots if you手机500彩票客户端 didn't allow the clot to stabilize and harden before blowing/picking you手机500彩票客户端r nose. you手机500彩票客户端r right the blood clots are just the blood stopping the flow it is ok to see them but if you手机500彩票客户端 do see them stop blowing or it wont clot and it will keep bleeding This can be caused by the blood congealing in you手机500彩票客户端r nasal carriageway and coming out in clots. But see you手机500彩票客户端r doctor if you手机500彩票客户端 are concerned.

Why is a headache only on the left side of head?

    User Avatar
There are a wide variety of answers to this question. The most common and least dangerous is a muscular strain at the neck or front of the skull, producing a unilateral headache. Another possibility is migraines. Have you手机500彩票客户端 worked out hard recently? Fallen, or been invovled in a car accident? Heavy duty stress? Any of these can cause these symptoms. First let's check the easy, likely stuff, and go from there. A bit more: Migraine headaches often occur on the same side of the head each time, especially for those who have them on a fairly frequent basis. For years I had migraines, which were always on the right side. Some people have them on the right side, some on the left. If you手机500彩票客户端 continue to have them, or if you手机500彩票客户端've already been having them for a while, you手机500彩票客户端 really need to see a doctor for a diagnosis and treatment.
Asked by Lilliana Rogahn in Head, Ears, and Nose, Respiratory System, Winter

Why does cold weather cause runny noses?

    User Avatar
A couple different cold-weather factors contribute to there being just too much fluid for the nose to hold (gross, I know, but true). First, because winter air tends to be very dry, the nose has to produce a lot of extra fluid to humidify it properly on its way to the lungs. Sometimes it makes so much that it runs right out the end of the nose. What’s more, when that warm, moisturized air gets breathed back out into cold, dry surroundings, it condenses on the cold tip of the nose, adding even more fluid.

Is my dizziness the result of ear infections or dental infections?

    User Avatar
Answer common. Make sure you手机500彩票客户端 see a doctor, just to be sure. If it is an ear infection Your dizziness could be caused by an ear infection, but if it is a dental problem, it is probably inflammation of the TMJ bone in you手机500彩票客户端r skull. I have TMJ problems myself, and I sometimes get dizzy, have pain that feels like it is inside my ear, and get headaches and jaw aches from time to time. Either way, you手机500彩票客户端 should go to the doctor and have it checked out, but if you手机500彩票客户端 have pain in you手机500彩票客户端r ears and jaw (and sometimes in you手机500彩票客户端r neck), and you手机500彩票客户端 feel and popping or clicking in you手机500彩票客户端r jaw, you手机500彩票客户端 may want to visit a dentist first.

Is one nostril bigger than the other?

    User Avatar
Almost always, Yes. Whether noticable or not, the two sides of the face ARE different. Most of the time, due to a blockage further up in the passage, makes the nostril flare due to more use, more demand to compensate. Hope this helped you手机500彩票客户端, and Good Luck.

Why do you手机500彩票客户端 have random nosebleeds?

    User Avatar
Nose bleeding is the result of blood vessels that have collapsed within you手机500彩票客户端r nose. Common causes include: nose picking, becoming very excited and certain illegal drugs. While there are a lot of reasons a person may have random nose bleeds, people with bleeding disorders can often get nose bleeds for no obvious reason. Frequent nose bleeds might be something to discuss with you手机500彩票客户端r doctor, especially if you手机500彩票客户端 tend to get bruises often. One of the symptoms of von Willebrand's can be spontaneous soft tissue and/or mucus membrane bleeds. While many different bleeding disorders can cause similar events, the disorder named von Willebrand's Disease is actually very common and under-diagnosed. Many females get unnecessary hysterectomies because they were never appropriately diagnosed and thus never knew the simple ways they could treat the condition. Not knowing that a person has a mild bleeding disorder can also leed to many complications if the person has surgery or gets in an accident.

Painful hard lump behind ear which hurts when you手机500彩票客户端 touch it should you手机500彩票客户端 be worried?

    User Avatar
It probably is a swollen lymph node, which could be from a range of things. If you手机500彩票客户端 have a thyroid problem it could be from that, it could just be an infection and it could just be allergies as well. Here are some of the things that the swollen lymph node could be from: common cold infection hyperactive thyroid / thyroid disease lymphoma [ tumor in the lymph node] gingivitis viruses mononucleosis tonsillitis Hodgkin's disease Leukemia Tuberculosis Sarcoidosis Toxoplasmosis Secondary syphilis Yaws Cat scratch fever/allergies Lymphatic obstruction [ Those are just some of the reasons they could be] I would call the doctor immediately if you手机500彩票客户端 , cannot move you手机500彩票客户端r neck , if the overlaying skin is red, rapid increase of size with in a couple of hours, fever over 105, diffculting breathing and swallowing. If this is happening and you手机500彩票客户端 can't get a hold of you手机500彩票客户端r doctor, go to an emergency room! If you手机500彩票客户端r lymph node is extremely tender to the touch , have a problem moving neck/head/arm/leg, increase to an 1 in or more , fever lasting more than 2-3 days, i would call with in 24-to 48 hours... if you手机500彩票客户端 cant move ur neck arm legs ect, call with in 24! Honetsly, I wouldn't jump the gun and say this is cancer. Lymph Nodes stay swollen for a 2-4 weeks than eventually go down. I would still call you手机500彩票客户端r main physician and tell him/her you手机500彩票客户端r sympthoms and let them judge for you手机500彩票客户端 whether or not you手机500彩票客户端 should go in and see them. If you手机500彩票客户端 want some of the pain to go down, get a hot wash cloth and put it over the bump... but please do not take aspirin when having this. I also read that the more you手机500彩票客户端 touch it the longer it takes for it to return to a normal size... not sure if this is true but just in case... Hope this is Helpful...

Is a medium-sized bump on the back of you手机500彩票客户端r head normal?

    User Avatar
You can rest easy, the bump at the back of you手机500彩票客户端r skull is a normal feature of every human's skull. It's called the occipital protuberance. On its own, a lump like that may not mean anything at all. People can quite often develop small fatty build-ups called lipomas, which sit just below the skin. These are harmless. There are also some glands at the back of you手机500彩票客户端r head, just below the largest prominence of bone. These are called the occipital lymph nodes. It is possible (although not common) to develop a lymphoma of these glands. While not wanting to scare you手机500彩票客户端, you手机500彩票客户端 should definitely get these checked by you手机500彩票客户端r doctor, particularly if they have been getting any larger, or you手机500彩票客户端 experience weight loss or night sweats. More input from contributors: Bumps on the back of the head usually mean one of two things. One caused by muscle tension and stress. The other which is hereditary, i have this bump as well as my entire family. It is called the anatolian bump. It comes from an isolated area in turkey. My Dad had these small lumps, not only on his head, but also on his arms and legs. He was told that some people make lumps and some make stones eg gall bladder and kidney stones. He was also told they were to do with Cholesterol and that they were okay unless they caused pain. One big one in his leg made it sore when he walked and they removed it in day surgery. I don't think anyone should worry about these as my dad is still going strong! For as long as I can remember I have had a medium sized bump on the back of my head. It is not visually prominent but can be felt. It is definitely bone as it is hard and gives me no pain. I have never had any sort of pain or problem with it but I am getting it looked at by a doctor soon. The bump you手机500彩票客户端 are experiencing is most likely a Sebaceous Cyst. Nothing to worry about. Answer I discovered one to but different from the others mine causes me pain if i touch it, I've had it for a while and no health problems. Just an inconvenience i keep on forgetting to see the doctor because i rarely put pressure on that spot. If it was something really bad i think i would have headaches, nosebleeds or something else. 5 years ago i was diagnosed with chronic headaches, but the reason was unknown. I realized that the worse the headache the larger the golf ball sized hard mass would grow. and when i didn't have a headache the lumps wasn't there at all. the doctor put me on topamax, which i slowly weaned my self off of and i was headache free for 5 years, now it is time to go see the doctor again. I recently discovered that my boyfriend has a small bump on the back of his head that is about the size of a dime or nickel. His mother has it as well. They both suffer from really bad headaches and I noticed that he gets them when he is applying pressure to it by laying down or resting his head back on something that isn't soft. It worries me a little, but I am wondering if it is genetic, because his mother has it as well. However the fact that it causes him to have terrible headaches makes me wonder if it isn't more. I am 21 years old and i think i may have a cyst at the back of my head on the left hand side half way up the rear of my head. I have had it since i was 15 ive never had it checked out because it has never caused me any pain or discomfort as yet. It is just a bit smaller than 5pence piece, its like half of a small ball sticking out of you手机500彩票客户端r head. It doesn't seem to have grown in size over the past 3 years but i have had 2 small ones appear on the top of my head close to each other, each 1 being about half the size of a peanut. Ive not been to my gp or anything like that to be honest it was my barber who thought it may be a cyst. I think its time i got this sorted out so any comments or advise would be much appreciated. I have a medium sized hard lump which feels completely like bone. The skin is normal around it and over it. I noticed it about six months ago. I have had no symptoms or problems with it at all, and this is even more worrying because no doctor was able to give me an explanation. I was wondering whether I could have banged my head and the lump just never went away, but it feels like part of the skull. It is compeletely baffling me. I have a similar lump on the back of my head, near my right ear. I was worried so I went to the doctor. According to him there is a line running roughly from ear to ear around the back of you手机500彩票客户端r skull to which the ligaments from you手机500彩票客户端r neck attach. The lump I found is simply a nodule of bone and ligament built up on that line where the neck ligaments attach. And (interestingly) these lumps and bumps on that line can slowly migrate around over the years! Amazing. I am 40 and now have a slightly tender, ping pong sized ball on the lower, left rear of my head. It's making me sick with worry and suppose I will go to doctor. However when I was about 26, I found a marble sized, bone hard lump on the left front of my skull. The doctor removed it and it turned out to be a perfectly normal, harmless piece of calcified bone. I have had a hard lump on the back of my head for 5 months now. I am now 31 and was diagnosed with RA in April of 2005. It seems as though as soon as I was diagnosed and started on a cocktail of meds, I just woke up with the lump one morning, (also woke up with a swollen lymph node in my armpit, which has since proved to be benign). The General Surgeon that I see does not seem to be concerned with it as it has not grown, however 4 out of 5 days I have excruciating headaches in which I have attributed to all the meds. Who know at this point. I am seeking a second opinion now. I have two small like pea size bumps on my head, one on the left side and one on the right. I've had one of them there since I was you手机500彩票客户端nger and the left side one is starting to grow. I haven't notified my doctor because I don't know if its serious and I don't know if I will have to go through surgery and if they are going to need to cut all my hair off. I have a small hard lump on the back of my head, its weird as its in the dead center of the back of my head. It's hard like bone and doesn't move about with my skin. I'm going to the doctors in a few days just to make sure it is not anything bad! I have a similar thing, its one bump in the dead center of my head, it only worries me when I think about it but I can feel it when I put pressure on it (i.e. lie down with pressure directly on my head ie. dentist chair). It's fixed and feels like bone. It doesn't move around when I touch it but gets bigger and smaller as I tilt my head forwards and backwards, as if its attached to my skull. It doesn't hurt and a doctor checked it out and he said that if my mum has it (she does, just not as big) then I should be okay, as long as its not growing or changing over time. Hope that helps.

I'm guessing that the "plum" looks like a bubble or ball around the piercing. That's called hypertropic scarring. Go out and buy some tea tree oil as it will be you手机500彩票客户端r best friend. Put a little bit on a q-tip or you手机500彩票客户端r finger then rub it on the bubble. The oil dries up the scarring and it will start peeling of in layers so don't freak out! Some types of hearing loss can be caused by problems which may be treated medically, such as ear infections or a perforated ear-drum. These types of loss can often improve. So the Chance of being deaf due to ear infection is small. Deafness due to ear infections is extrememly rare. But there is a slight risk. Most likely what happens with people is the ear goes deaf for a few days or even more rarely weeks.

What does it mean if you手机500彩票客户端r ears bleed when you手机500彩票客户端r stretching or gauging them but it doesnt hurt whatsoever?

    User Avatar
As you手机500彩票客户端 are not creating a new wound, simply utilizing the elasticity of you手机500彩票客户端r skin to open a preexisting hole further, there should be no blood, ever. Just because there is no pain does not mean that it is nothing to worry about. The blood could be because you手机500彩票客户端r ears were not fully healed from a previous tear, a new tear, or a major blowout (though I imagine it is rare for a blowout bad enough to bleed to come with no pain), and none of these things are good. If you手机500彩票客户端 experience bleeding from a piercing, no matter if it hurts or not, you手机500彩票客户端 are putting you手机500彩票客户端r piercing at risk by continuing as you手机500彩票客户端 are. It is best to remove the jewelry (or at least return to the previous size) and allow time for the piercing to heal before attempting to stretch again.

Can post nasal drip cause nausea?

    User Avatar
Of course, im sitting here now with the same nasy problem, take some benadryl and you手机500彩票客户端 should be ok Antihistamines such as Allergy medications (benadryl, zyrtec, cleratine, allegra, etc) do help temporarily by shutting down the mucus production. I've had post nasal drip for over 5 years now, it makes you手机500彩票客户端 cough in the mornings and sometimes gets pretty uncomfortable. I use antihistamines however I pretty much would have to use it all the time lol so I found that sinus flush have been working for me. You go to Amazon, or to local pharmacy (cvs, wallgreens, even walmart) and you手机500彩票客户端 buy either nasal irrigator or what I found works better nasal syringe. You fill it with warm water, and slowly squeeze the water in one of you手机500彩票客户端r nostrils, (make sure it doesn't leak from the same nostril). Squeeze the water slowly, you手机500彩票客户端 will feel as the water fills all you手机500彩票客户端r sinus cavities and after a couple seconds as you手机500彩票客户端 squeeze starts dripping from the other nostril -that's what you手机500彩票客户端 want because it means it reached all the sinuses and now flushes all the bacteria and mucus out. Now there is that moment when the water goes up you手机500彩票客户端r nose to the sinuses, that moment sucks cuz always gives me a headache (it's the same feeling if water gets up you手机500彩票客户端r nose in the pool or lake), but when you手机500彩票客户端 get past that its ok (you手机500彩票客户端 can adjust you手机500彩票客户端r head tilt, I found that it depends on you手机500彩票客户端r head position). Make sure the water comes out thru the other nostril.... As much as the allergy pills help you手机500彩票客户端 temporarily, you手机500彩票客户端 can use it as a adition to those. I have been using it once a day or once every few days for about 5 minutes from one nostril to another, and so far don't have to take allergy pills at all, my sinus feels very clear and less dripy, no cough in the mornings either. It didn't eliminate completely the nasal drip but reduced it so I don't notice that and no flem or the bacteria in there anymore cuz they all com out with the water.... So far it works well :)
